New Year, New You! In the beginning of every new year I like starting fresh. A clean slate means new makeup. By looking at what's new for the year I can determine which makeup to buy. Now, I use "trends" very loosely because in reality I truly feel like whatever makeup you like best stick to them. Yes, change it up with a colourful eyeshadow or lip but you have to feel comfortable in your own skin.
For Spring 2016, blue eyeshadow was very popular on the runways. Either a blue liner as seen at Monique Lhulilier Spring 2016 or full lid of blue. For lips a watermelon red is the perfect red to add a punch of colour. As for nails, this trend started in 2015 but I have a feeling it will really take off this year. A french manicure with coloured tips. Experiment with different shades.
Last year brands such as Make Up Forever and NARS released semi-matte foundations. Think 1990's makeup! The Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation has such a finish and great for pictures. If highlighting is your think you can always add a glowy effect. Matte makeup as in lipsticks will also be big this year.
Lastly, maybe it's just me but I have been on a facial oil kick lately. Facial oils have always been around, especially a few years ago with the Oil Cleansing Method trend;
There's Been an Oil Spill (April 2008)
The new Oil Cleansing Method I do now is different than a few years ago. And I don't recommend it to everyone as some are prone to getting cystic acne. However, the trend with oils this year is using it as a moisturizer. And the big leagues are listening! Companies such as the Body Shop and Olay released facial oils last year. Also, I have met amazing local vendors creating skincare with oils at local markets (thru my brand Ele & Ela). I am actually excited to make a few concoctions of my own for personal use.
Which trends do you think will take off this year? Or which are you willing to try?
