Shiseido Ibuki Skincare {review}

Shiseido Ibuki

Maybe just maybe I've had it all wrong when it comes to facial moisturizer. Recently Shiseido released a new skincare line, Ibuki meaning inner strength in Japanese, is geared at women in their mid 20s-30s year age group who lead a hectic life. The key points in the Ibuki line: to revitalize skin cell renewal, smooth, and radiant skin.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer:
So, where have I gone wrong? Having combination skin that's also dehydrated means that I tend to use moisturizers that can be too creamy. Or too moisturizing!
Since August (when I received a pre-launch set) I've been using this moisturizer. At first I assumed this moisturizing wouldn't be rich enough. However, this light lotion was the perfect hydration. Soaks right in, doesn't leave my skin oily and hydrates just right. My skin looks smoother and less clogged pores. This will definitely be a repurchase.

Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser :
This was a rich creamy cleanser with fine grains. I prefer to apply this to dry skin, message, and follow with water. Keep away from eyes! Also, for me this was more of a treatment so I wouldn't use it daily. Twice a week was enough for a scrub/treatment. Left a slight residue which I didn't like. Did leave skin feeling soft and smooth. Bonus: no parabens, no sulfates & no phthalates.
$35 cdn

The Shiseido Ibuki skincare line is now available in stores as of this October 2013.

  1. Hi Lina, thank you for the great comment and question! Yes, I love my Thayers Aloe Vera Toner because it's alcohol-free which means it won't dry out my skin, and the aloe is indeed very calming. Aloe is a fantastic natural healing ingredient - I still remember my mom using freshly picked aloe from our plant at home to soothe my sunburns and bug bites when I was little. Thayers has a fantastic variety of other alcohol-free toners (and for ladies with oily skin they also make stronger astringent toners) which contain aloe in addition to some other nice ingredients like rose petal, lavender and cucumber so you can mix it up and still get the same benefits. In the summer, I love keeping my toner in the fridge so it's extra cool and refreshing. Give it a try and let me know what you think! - Sidonie :-)

    Hi Sidonie! You've really got great great skin. A friend of mine was suggesting me to use an aloe vera based toner-supposedly it's really soothing for the skin. I was just wondering if that's true since you're using the Thayer's Aloe Vera Toner... Thanks
